The Foundation Publications
In 2007, the Renzo Piano Foundation launched its own publishing business with a series of monographs dedicated to the museums designed by Renzo Piano throughout the world. The volumes are drafted, edited and published by the Foundation itself.
The material utilized, most of which remains unpublished, has been recovered thanks to the cataloguing of the Foundation’s archives. Each project’s history has been reconstructed chronologically through sketches, drawings, models, notes and even individual memories of the worksite itself, from the initial inspection of the site to the inauguration of the completed work.
The narratives of Renzo Piano, along with the testimonies that have been collected specifically for these volumes, are accurately recorded and transcribed, so that each project is recounted by those who were directly involved.
These books have gone on to become travel logs that accompany the reader through each stage of the extraordinary adventure of construction.
To date, the publications in this series include: The Menil Collection, Fondation Beyeler, Centre Culturel Jean-Marie Tjibaou, The California Academy of Sciences, The Shard - London Bridge Tower, Ronchamp - Gatehouse and monastry, Withney Museum of American Art.
Upcoming releases (chronological order to be defined): The Kimbell Art Museum, Centre Georges Pompidou.
